Student Voice and Councils

We are constantly looking to build upon the successes and improve communications with the student body. It hasΒ been another great year for theΒ Student Council!Β Β We wanted to produce a new structure that empowered all students and strongly reflected the House system including our new fifth House, Seacole!

Students have createdΒ an open forum that has a positive and lasting impact on student life at Ely College. Following a successful student-led uniform consultation, working with studentΒ and parents alike, as well a host of successful charity and fundraising events, we are set to go from strength to strength!

Who makes up the College Council?

Every tutor group has a nominatedΒ Form Representative. Their role isΒ to hold discussions within the tutor group to get ideas around aspects of college life and college improvement.Β

The Student Voice RepresentativesΒ takes these ideasΒ directly to their House Council meetings, where they meet with their House’sΒ Student Ambassadors.

Each house hasΒ aΒ Student AmbassadorΒ from each Key Stage. They support the facilitation of the House Council meetings and organise students from their house to help with events and charity work.

AllΒ Student AmbassadorsΒ meet to form theΒ College Council. They meet regularly to discuss issues and they feedback the solution to their houses and respective form groups.

Student AmbassadorsΒ will periodically meet in with a Senior Leadership Team representative who attend the College Council meetings and actions the outcomes decided by students. Student Ambassadors will represent the college at evening and external events. Essentially this role offersΒ a choice, of being a whole school leaderΒ compared to theΒ house-based leaders.Β

All students are invited to apply for these leadership roles. Students are appointed to the roles after a selection process.
