To show commitment to your Hair & Beauty qualification, it is essential that you complete the following tasks, to prepare for your new course. Hair and Beauty is a service industry, so professional presentation, communication skills and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation are very important when working with clients. The following tasks will help improve your knowledge and develop your understanding of working within the Hair and Beauty sector. |

Task 1 Professional Presentation (this will be expected of you when working in the salons) Using images create a mood board or poster of a professional therapist or hair stylist. Annotate your work identifying key features of professional presentation.

Task 2 Communication Skills Knowledge of different methods of communication are important when working with clients. Give examples for each of the methods listed below: - Verbal Communication Non Verbal Communication Written *How would you adapt your communication skills to suit different people. |

Task 4 Patch Testing A patch test is designed to alert the therapist to any pre-disposed skin sensitivity on the client’s behalf. Any active, new or known ingredient that can potentially produce a reaction is usually patch tested 24-48 hours before treatment.
