Student Remote Access Solution

 

We are currently participating in a pilot for staff and students of Ely Community College to access the internal network, which hosts information and resources. To access this site please click on the link below. All users will be asked to enter their school username with .cgr added to the end (e.g. 00jbloggs.cgr), followed by the same password used in school. Staff will then also require a remote keyfob, which can be obtained from the ICT Support department.

You may also need to download Java if it does not load successfully. You can download it by clicking this link.

 

 

 


Student Access:

 

Step 1: You must have synchronised your password within school before you can log in from home.
To do this you need to go onto the student intranet site, and click "Change Lan Password".


 

Step 2: Click on this link to connect to the college network.
Connect to Ely College Student Network

 

Step 3: Enter your username (07jbloggs.cgr), click Login. Type your password in the next screen and click the Login button.
Note that you will need to enter ".cgr" on the end of your username. This is because this is a county wide system, and the .cgr denotes that you are an Ely College Student.

 

 

 

Step 4: You are now logged into the remote system. Click on the icon shown below "4083 Citrix Desktop".
This will load a program called "SSL Explorer". It needs you to have an up-to-date copy of Java installed on your computer.
You can download it by clicking this link if it doesn't work.
The first time you access this from a computer, it will download the Citrix ica client. You will need to click "agree" to the licensing agreement before it will install.


 

 

Step 5: You will now be presented with an Acceptable use policy, which when you click OK, you will be able to login as if you were in school using your normal username and password (I.e: without the .cgr).

 

 


 

 

Staff Access:

 

 

At present, the staff remote scheme is a different system to the one that the students use. We plan to merge these two schemes shortly.
Users will be notified as soon as the system is ready for staff to move over.
In the mean time, please follow the instructions below....

Click on this link: https://sras.ccc-e2b.net (Note that it is important to type “https”)

You will see the screen below:

 

Enter your user id into the first field, followed by your four-digit pin and the number displayed on your key fob into the second field. Leave the realm saying “SRAS”. Click “Log In”.
You may be asked to accept or trust content from “Netilla Networks”. Click Yes and Run, if it asks you.

You will be presented with a selection of icons similar to the ones below.

Once you are presented with these icons, you have successfully connected into the college IT system.
Ely OWA - Outlook Web Access (E-mail)
Ely Citrix Desktop - A Full Desktop Session (Access to Shared Drives, etc..)
Ely Eportal - (School Management System)


To access the web-service, click on the icon, which will take you to the logon page.

 

 


Maintenance and Service Breaks

Maintenance on the remote access system takes place several times throughout the month.
Access to the system may be disrupted, depending on what changes need to be undertaken.

Firewall Changes:
- Wednesday evenings 22:00 – 23:00hrs
- Sunday 12:00 – 13:00hrs (by arrangement)

Network/Server Maintenance:

2nd and 4th Sundays of each month.

Prior notice of any break in service, due to maintenance or change control, that will affect the operation of the schools service will be provided, with the exception of Wednesday evening firewall changes which are a scheduled weekly occurrence that affects all County IT systems.
