Homework

Homework

As a college, we value homework and see it as an important part of the learning process.  Regular and meaningful homework is essential in supporting good learning habits. Students should therefore expect to receive homework regularly and in-line with each curriculum area’s expectations.

At the college we use an online system called ‘Show my Homework’ to set homework. Guidance for parents on the use of Show My Homework is outlined below.

Teachers monitor the completion of homework, and sanctions are issued in line with the college behaviour policy if it is not submitted by the deadline set.

The guideline for frequency of homework set in different subjects is outlined below. Please note that due to curriculum commitments, this may vary slightly throughout the year:

Show My Homework

At Ely College we use Show My Homework to set homework. All teachers use this website to set homework for students.

When you or your child logs on to the Show My Homework website, you can see what homework has been set and when it is due to be handed in. Teachers have the ability to include video clips and worksheets related to homework so that they don’t get lost on the way home.

Each student and parent/guardian has been provided with their own unique log on.

If you or your child are unable to logon to the SMHW website, please speak with or email Ms Jayne Brown: jbrown@elycollege.co.uk or contact Show My Homework directly by email: help@showmyhomework.co.uk

Show My Homework student log-in…

The vast majority of students set up their account as they start Year 7; usually in their first ICT lessons. Those who haven’t, or have forgotten their details, should do the following:

For students:

  • Please use Google chrome as your web browser
  • Go to showmyhomework.co.uk
  • Click on “login” in the top right corner
  • Ignore the left side of the page and click on the red “sign in with Office 365” link
  • Enter your school username and password (the same that you use to login to computers at school and to access your email).

For parents:

  • Go to showmyhomework.co.uk
  • Click on “login” in the top right corner
  • Click on “I’ve been given a PIN or Parent Code”
  • Enter the code provided to you by the school (multiple parents can use the same code on different devices)

If you are a parent of multiple students at the school, you can add them all to the same account.

  • Then enter the PIN/parent code for that student
