Course entry requirements
C or above in Science
Why study BTEC L3 Applied Science?
This course provides a broad spectrum science course intended
for students considering employment in vocational occupations
such as nursing, engineering through apprenticeships, or lab and
process technicians.
What will you study?
The emphasis on the course will be skills based, and there are
no exams.
Assessment is by the demonstration of acquired practical
techniques and the submission of project work.
The content will include procedures from all three of the
scientific disciplines: biology, chemistry, and physics.
Basic skills of identification, measurement and numeracy will
be taught, and the course will be relevant to the needs of
modern research companies as students will be introduced to
current procedures in biotechnology, and data-mining
strategies through informatics.
Guided learning hours are 10 per week.
Future prospects
An ideal course for students considering careers within all areas
of science, including lab technicians, environmental services,
biotechnology and forensics.
