KS4 Design and Technology: Textiles

Year 10

Module 1
Design and make task: Fashion Skirts
This will involve:

• investigations into the work of designers
• practical techniques for pattern drafting and construction
• aspects of manufacturing garments in quantity
• making a prototype

Module 2
A theoretical module considering natural, synthetic, regenerated, smart and technical fibres.

Module 3
Design and make task: Individually chose design briefs

This will involve:

• investigations into the work of designers
• practical techniques for pattern drafting and construction
• aspects of manufacturing garments in quantity
• making a prototype

Module 4
A theoretical module considering quality control, health and safety in the work place and scales of production

Overview of year 11 work Term 1 Textiles Technology AQA

Students focus for the whole of term 1 is the all important coursework which is 60% of the exam grade.
This includes a design folder to back up a piece or pieces of practical work which illustrates their skills in this subject.
They will concentrate on research and designing until mid October and then use lesson time for practical development and making.
Homework will be keeping a record of what they have done in their folder.
