| Business Studies Department Year 8
Pupils at the City of Ely Community College study one 60-minute lesson each week in mixed ability classes. The Key Stage 3 Business curriculum is designed to develop a broad range of key skills and gives them the chance to develop teamwork, creativity, initiative and enterprise.
Business Studies at Key Stage 3 is not a National Curriculum subject so there are no levels to report. The curriculum consists of two projects and an enterprise activity, containing group and individual activities related to business topic areas. They aim to give pupils an experience of the world of business so that they can develop an understanding of how businesses and the market in which they operate work. Pupils also have the opportunity in Year 8 to study and take part in a school trip to Cadbury World which is organised by the department. Autumn Term The aim this term, is for pupils to participate in the study of Cadbury World and investigate the business and production. Pupils will be working individually and in groups to invent, design and produce their own prototype chocolate box using the correct production method. In Business Education, pupils will be working on the Cadbury World Project workbook, looking at all the areas associated with production. The project workbook contains theory, activities and worksheets, for pupils to complete to the best of their ability, which relates to the following topic areas: - The history of Cadbury World
- Factors of Production
