Course entry requirements
C or above in English Language, or C or above in Leisure and Tourism
Why study Travel and Tourism?
The OCR National Level 3 in Travel and Tourism aims to
encourage candidates to develop broad skills, knowledge and
understanding of the travel and tourism industry. Students
carry out a range of tasks that have been designed to
recognise their achievements in a modern, practical way that
is relevant to the workplace.
During the course students continue to develop their work related
skills and knowledge, their understanding of the travel
and tourism industry, and the settings, job roles, principles
and values involved.
With OCR Nationals, there are no exams, so students are not
under pressure to perform in a one-off test.
Instead, assessment and learning support throughout the course
gives students a much better indication of their progress, and a
greater chance of success.
Students can choose to do a single award (of six units) or a double
award of 12 units (worth 2 A levels).
What will you study?
Mandatory units for both awards.
Unit 1 – The Travel and Tourism Industry
Unit 2 – Travel Locations Worldwide
Unit 3 – Marketing Travel and Tourism
Unit 4 – Customer Service and Selling Skills inTravel andTourism
There is then a choice from 24 optional units covering all
aspects of the travel and tourism industry.
Method of assessment
All units are coursework and internally assessed, and then
externally moderated by an OCR Visiting Moderator. There are
no external tests or exams, and ongoing assessments and
moderations can take place at any time.
Future prospects
The OCR National Level 3 inTravel and Tourism aims to prepare
students for further study or training in travel and tourism
related occupations.
