Why study Financial Studies?
This Ifs School of Finance Level 3 award is equivalent to an AS
level and worth 20 to 60 UCAS points.
This course enables you to leave college much better prepared
to understand and deal with the financial difficulties that are
bound to come theirway in the years to come.
The course is all about helping young people to take responsibility for their own
financial affairs and not rely on others. The content is extremely
useful and relevant to you.
The course is in addition to your main courses and will require
some self supported study as well as taught lessons. There
should be enough flexibility around yourmain courses to allow
you success in this vital area.
What will you study?
Unit 1:Why Money Matters
Unit 2: Risk and Reward
Unit 3: Making Personal Financial Judgements
Method of assessment
Units 1 and 2 are examined bymulti-choice online examinations
in December and February.
Unit 3 is examined with a written examination using a case
study in May.
You must pass Units 1 & 2 before you can be entered for Unit 3.June.
Future prospects
This course enhances your financial awareness and knowledge
so that you become much more confident in making
judgements about your own financial circumstances. The CeFS
course has been found to reinforce students’ intention to
consider pursuing a career in the financial sector as well as
going on for further study.
Therewill be the possibility of progressing on to the Diploma in
Financial Studies (the A2 level equivalent) on successful
completion of the Certificate.
